Simplicity of a Nano Marine Tank- Nano Reef

Due to its low-cost option small nano reef tanks are quite in demand. They are small, easy to keep and for a beginner in the hobby they are the most opted tanks. We are just going to look closer inside the nano setups. Most nano tank have less than 100 litres of salt water; are great for small sized fish such as small clown, gobies, blennies and on the other side soft corals or the Polyp which are suitable for nano environment.

Nano are great to start with, but they too have dark side with them. While starting a nano tank the biggest constrain faced is volume inside the tank and a balance must be maintained between water and aquascape equipment. It’s simple if we add more aquascape items such as rocks or substrate any other decorative items inside the tank the water inside the tank will be displaced and we are felt with less water. Less water the higher are the chances of change in water parameter as in our subcontinent due to temperature the evaporation would play a major role. Less aquascape on the other hand means we fail to have the impact of a reef aquarium in the first place.Less water be happy ever need a water change in a 100 litres tank means two buckets of water would do about 40 percent of water change where as it takes hours to empty and refill a large system. Less water, less salt and smaller are dose for additives, nano marine tank require nano equipment’s which all together club as a low-cost option for anyone to start in this hobby.

Most nano marine tanks have external filter or hang on the back equipment, we recommend small sumps what ultimately help in decreasing the change in the water chemistry. The impact of additives or medic in nano tanks are faster than compared to larger systems so regular water and system check would be a required to keep the aquarium thriving. While choosing the fish or a coral be sure that the marine life is fully quarantined and free from all parasite, worms and critters as in a nano tank the spread for these bad elements is fast although nano tanks are faster when it comes to restarting the system, but precautions are better than the cure.

If you move a lot or have a space constraint at your place or starting in the hobby and don’t have the budget for gigantic system these nano tanks are great choice.
