Amphiprion akallopisos commonly known as the Skunk Clownfish or the nose stripe skunk clownfish. This anemonefish is found in the reefs of the Indian Ocean. Found at a depth of 25 m and can grow up to 4.5 inches. Skunk clownfish is faded orange in color has a single white strip which starts from its mouth and passes thru its back till its tail. Bottom of the fish is yellowish, and the fins are also yellow in color.

Like other clowns Amphiprion akallopisos also has symbiotic relations with some of the anemones. We ordered both A. perideraion and A. akallopisos together, so we found both the fish have the same body structure but have absolute different color and strip patterns. Nose stripe skunk sometime is wrongly identified to be a A. sandaracinos which has very similar looks and patterns. Costing almost the same as A. perideraion.

They live in pairs and the female is the bigger in size and when the female is removed the male would change to female. A. akallopisos is bread in captivity and are hardier to keep compared to wild caught. They eat almost everything we throw in the tank from flakes and pellets. As per IUCN red list this fish has a life span of 3-4 years. Keeping this fish with other tank mates the specimen did not show any aggression. It was little shy when introduced in the system and is quite comfortable with our presence now.

Would recommend acclimatizing the fish and introduce it in only in matured tanks. They are easy to keep and are wonderful species for a mixed reef system.
