Reef Tank Maintenance by The Crew

Every marine aquarium system has lights, water and livestock and once the tank matures, there comes a stage where we all will or would have faced the issues of algae, detritus and pests. It’s not a great site to look at. There are tons of additives in the market. Which can do the job of cleaning them out, but in this process of additive you end up doing two jobs one adding additive then pumping out the additive.

To avoid this situation and prevent a large out break by adding some natural cleaning crew, this means live stock which can consists of fish (Reef Tank Maintenance Crew) snales, crabs, shrimps and more as per the issues. This helps in balancing the eco-system of the reef with out adding anything to the water column.

While choosing a crew, make sure that they don’t become prey to the larger tank mates. This crew will clean all those area inside the aquarium, which is only possible by drying out the tank.

Turbo snale is our favorite as they quickly remove large amount of algae. For aiptasia we have aiptasia eating filefish and for detritus we have paperment shrimps or the brittle sea star.

Any live organism helping in Reef tank maintenance end-up as a part of the cleaning crew. Our actual workforce doing what we have to  do with our hands wet.
