Home reef aquarium and shop system both the tank are very different. So Just wanted to bring out the major difference in a home aquarium and a shop aquarium. Aquarium is just an object and really doesn’t matter how you keep the aquarium without the life in it. As we add life in the aquarium everything changes the same goes with the shop tanks.
Marine life is the most important factor in our aquariums and the same is implied for the shop. The major difference between both is how the life is kept in side the tanks and their builds. As far as the build goes in a shop the tanks are interlinked and the total volume of water is more than a home aquarium. I think this is the only difference there is on built as the major difference is how the life is treated and where is it kept.
Where is marine life kept;
Our home reef aquarium we have rocks and sand which is missing in the shop. Noticed the tanks in the shop they keep most of the tanks clean no sand and no rocks. Some tanks do have sand in it for the simple fact that they are keeping creatures which require sand. Rocks for selling are in a different tank and PVC pipe are added in the display tank which are light and provide hiding spots. Most of the Fish only tanks in shop have led or T5 lights but are not lit till the time customer walks in. Reef and fish are kept in a different tank in a shops. Home reefs require light almost everyday as we have mixed life.
How is marine life treated;
New water is added almost every day in a shop system. This is due to the fact that water is goes away with the live stock sold. Marine Stock is added almost every month in both the home and shop aquarium and the process is the same. Extra care is given in our home aquarium than the shops as shop is dealing in too many to care off.
So does the light and slight extra water give an edge to the shop in keeping the marine life or extra care gives home reef aquarium an edge. Let me know what are your thoughts on who has the edge.
