Well we all do hobby mistakes and we did them too. Here are my to top 5 mistakes in the hobby. Learning from other’s mistakes is always a good thing. This hobby is a stress-reliever and an anti-depressant but doing the mistakes again and again brings lot of stress on the fish and you own self. So learn and avoid what i did and if you are a newcomer in the marine hobby, try not to be discouraged and do not give up.
Structure
Structure is the most important aspect one should be sure what will not get damaged or worn-out with time as we are using salt and this element can destroy most of the material. Here we started with Mild steel stands and with time they are rusting out. We use primer and paint to save the structure buy some how the saltwater comes in contact and the reaction starts. This just adds up to the work load so we suggest use material which do not react with saltwater.
Sump Partition
Sump is an important part of a salt water aquarium and for the first time we just made 3 partition which is not enough. It is advisable to make more partitions so that the dirt is confined to only the first compartment. One should also keep in mind the length, breath, height and radius of the skimmer and then make the sump.
Quarantine Tank
If are aged in this hobby you can say how important QT is at home and avoid the mistake. Before you add any live specimen to your display tank it is advisable to quarantine the stock. So the un-quarantined live stock would also bring lot of parasites and worms which can be very hard on the other stock in you tank. QT is not a matter of size it is about making sure or safeguarding what is introduced in the main display tank.
Food
Tank is ready and we need live fish and we are so excited that we forget to buy fish food. Please don’t do this at least buy one type of food before you buy your first fish. Usually we remember that we need fish food after the fish is introduced in the tank. Not giving fish the nutrition required for their overall health. This can be very stressful and ultimately leads to aggression among the tank mates. So always buy food before the fish.
Planning
This is the most important as if you keep this in mind all other problems will go away. Planning ahead and working backward it the best option one can do. So the PLAN is that we and work on the same.
