Mushroom Corals come in a wide variety packed with different colors and are easy to keep. Under good lighting and right water conditions, they multiply and grow pretty fast. They just require medium lighting and medium water flow in the aquarium. Most of these corals are placed on the rock where they attach themselves. They come in a variety of designs including dotted, striped, hairy, and solid colors. This coral, if happy in the aquarium will enlarge it’s disk completely and if not, it will remain closed.
Mushroom doesn’t require much of manual feeding the present of zooxanthellae algae takes care of the nutrition via photosynthesis. Anyways, you can still feed them with small doses of brine shrimp. While keeping this coral it is important to keep a check on iodine, magnesium, calcium, strontium and other trace elements.
Not having any hard shell on them they are the first to be nibed by coral eating fish such as triggers and puffers. This coral is pretty peaceful towards other corals but it advisable to keep some distance between different species of corals. They are found almost on all reefs and some are also being aquacultured.
