Acanthurus leucosternon commonly known as the powder blue tang is native to the Indian ocean. Powder blue tang can grow up 10 inches with good water conditions and have a life span of over 10 years.
This tang is oval in shape, body is bright light blue with a yellow dorsal fin along with the narrow part which is attached to the tail is yellow in color. Fins are yellow tinted transparent. The face of the powder blue in black color outlined in color white. The tail base of the powder blue is sharp and should handled with care.

Powder blue is such a majestic fish when you look at it. They require large systems with plenty of rock work and hiding spots. Powder blue is a herbivores fish so all veggie diet for it. It practically feeds on flakes, pallets, algae wafer, (seaweed offer at least 2 to 3 times a week) and other home prepared fish food.
They are easy-moderate to keep at home. Sometimes PBT are aggressive towards other tangs and similar in form and color. They also are a great as a clean up crew as the would keep glazing on the algae on the rock work. While purchasing this fish check the health status along with there eating habits as they are little finicky eaters and can starve themselves to death.
Powder blue tang is susceptible to marine ich, which means that it’s a good idea to quarantine the fish for several weeks before introducing them into your display tank.
