Zebrasoma flavescens also known as the Hawaiian Yellow Tang. This fish is oval, has a single white line across the body which is faded and is completely as the name suggest yellow in colour.
The Yellow Hawaiian Tang is an active swimmer and is an eye catcher in almost all the aquariums. They were first found in the Hawaiian Islands and the common name was associated linked they are usually found in the Pacific Ocean, Hawaiian Island and in the cost of Japan. They can grow up to 8 to 9 inches in length and their life span can range beyond 25 years in a clean system.

The Yellow Hawaiian Tang is a very common, extremely popular, and hardy addition to any fish-only or reef aquarium system. Yellow Tangs are easy to keep and are great eaters Most yellow tangs will readily consume flake, frozen or pellet food which we are feeding other fish. It is important that the Yellow Tangs are offered marine seaweed and algae. This will help strengthening its immunity and improve overall health.
Like other Tangs, Zebrasoma flavescens also demonstrates territorial aggression towards its own kind or similar looking fish species. Therefore, it is recommended to keep a close watch on the tank mates. As of year, 2015 the yellow tang is being tank bred in the Hawaii.
The yellow tangs are not generally considered as dangerous, but their tail spines can inflict deep wounds so be cautious while handling them. They are highly disease resistant and responds well to treatment when ill.
The Yellow Tang is a great addition to the marine aquarium as it is very hardy and easy to keep. This fish can handle a lot of challenges in the marine environment except for poor water quality. It can be housed in a fish only tank or in a reef environment as it will not harm corals or invertebrates.
