Nemateleotris magnifica commonly known as the Fire Fish or the Fire Dartfish. This fish has a very unique body shape and is full of bright brilliant colors. Dartfish has a yellow head with white body and reddish maroon towards the tail. This fish also has its antenna from white to yellowish color.
Nemateleotris magnifica is found at a depth of 6 to 70 meters near coral reefs and can grow up to size of 3 to 4 inches in length. Dartfish is native to Indo-Pacific. The dartfish was earlier from the family of Microdesmidae which was later taxon within the Gobiidae (Goby) family and has the same traits of being very calm fish.

N. magnifica is easy to keep reef fish and is very popular in the aquarium trade. Usually found in pairs or in groups this fish will occupy the small rock holes to hide when threatened. They are very good jumpers so keeping the lid on is a good option. Nemateleotris magnifica is not aggressive towards the other species, but can be on its own species other than the paired ones. Fire Dartfish is a good eater and starts eating immediately after tank acclimation when first introduced. N. magnifica should be feed a mixture of food along with brine-shrimps and rich mineral food. This can be in the from of frozen or dried food.
Perfect fish for a reef setup, with lot of personality and are great addition to the Marine Aquarium Hobby.
