Well the Blue Green Chromis (Chromis viridis) is one fish we been keeping and calling for a long time now. This fish originates from Indo-Pacific region and around the Great Barrier Reef. It is a reef-associated fish and is found at the depth range of 20 m. The maximum size of this fish can be 4 inches in length. With good water condition they can live up to 15 years.
Blue Green Chromis is one fish which is dazzling with shimmers. This fish has a tint of light blue and green color which is silvery to see. This fish is appreciated by all levels in the reefing hobby. Chromis viridis being a schooling fish that brings the shimmer in our aquarium all the time. This fish is one of the best first time buy fish in our hobby.
Chromis viridis is easy to keep, very peaceful in nature and should not be added with predatory tank mates. When introduced in the tank it acts as shy and hides away immediately. After couple of days of feeding, they would just not stop going all around the tank. It is recommended to introduce all the Chromis in a tank in one go which is lot easier to school them together.
If you see this fish hiding in corner of your tank, that is a signal of being in stress which can be due to many reasons. Blue Green Chromis is a great community fish which gets along with most of the other peaceful fish. Fantastic eaters and will eat about anything we give them form frozen, flakes, pellets and vegetables. It is said that they eat their own unhatched eggs. They have also been bred successfully in aquariums now.
